Thomas Bexton was born in 1882 the son of Thomas a police sergeant and Alice Ellen Bexton (née Fenton).His father was born in 1852 in Leicester and his mother in 1850 also at Nottingham. Married in 1874 at Radford, they had eight children - Elizabeth b.1875, William b.1877, John b.1879, Herbert b.1881, Thomas b.1882, Arthur b.1884, May b.1886 and Nellie b.1888. In 1891 they lived at 77 Henry Street Sneinton, by 1901 at Lenton Boulevard and in 1911 at 12 Gloucester Avenue Derby Road (all Nottingham). Thomas married Laura Ann Towers (born 1883 Nottingham) in 1903 and they had three children – Thomas b.1905, Laura May b. 1908 and Arthur b. 1912. In 1911 they lived at 41 Denstone Road Carlton Road Nottingham along with Laura’s mother Sarah Ann Towers a lace clipper.
338th Motor Transport Company He died of typhus at the Scottish Womens' Hospital in Serbia and is buried in Chela Kula Military Cemetery, Nis, Serbia. Grave Reference: E.8 .
Death notice published 11th March 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post : “BEXTON. – On February 24th, at Scottish Women's Hospital, Vranja, Salonika, of typhus, Lce.-Cpl. Thomas Bexton, R.A.S.C., M.T., after 3½ years' overseas service, deeply loved husband of Laura Ann Bexton, 41, Denstone Road, and fourth son of ex-Police-sergeant Thomas and Alice Bexton, Gloucester-avenue, Lenton. Shattered hopes. – Deeply mourned by wife and three children, and mother, father, sisters, and brothers.” In memoriam published 24th February 1920 in the Nottingham Evening Post: “BEXTON. – In affectionate remembrance of my devoted husband, L-Cpl.
