Family History

William Christopher Hardy was born in 1896 at Nottingham and was the son of Christopher a porter and carter and Fanny Hardy née Hutchinson of 12 Plimsoll Terrace, Nottingham. His father Christopher was born in 1867 at Nassington, Northampton and his mother Fanny Hutchinson was born in 1871 also at Nassington, they were married in 1894 at Nottingham, they had one other child, Doris b1906 in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family were living at 12 Plimsoll Terrace Denman Street Radford Nottingham and were shown as Christopher 44 yrs a porter and carter, he is living with his wife Fanny 40 yrs and their children William Christopher 15 yrs an errand lad and Doris 5 yrs of age.

Military History

Private William Christopher Hardy enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Radford. He served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 1st July 1917 and is buried at Maroc British Cemetery, Grenay, France.
