Family History

James William Statham was born in 1897 the son of George a coal miner hewer and his first wife the late Louisa Statham née Haselden and the brother of Francis George and Sarah Eliza Statham. George was born in 1865 at Heage, Derbyshire, Louisa Haselden was born in 1852 at Fishlake, Yorkshire, she died in 1908 aged 56 yrs. they were married in 1892 their marriage was recorded in the Rotherham registration district. His father George re married Elizabeth Lowery in 1911 this marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district In 1911, the family lived at Elm Cottage, Vernon Road, Kirkby in Ashfield.

Military History

Gunner James William Statham at Mansfield whilst residing at Kirkby in Ashfield he was killed in action on 12th September 1918 and is buried at Sanpits British Cemetery, Fouquereuil, France.
