Albert Edward Cliff was born in 1896 at Mansfield he was the son of David a mustard maker and Fanny Cliff née Simms of 14 Newton Street, Mansfield. David was born in 1863 at Arnold, Fanny Simms was born in 1863 at Mansfield, they were married in 1885 at Mansfield they went on to have 5 children. In 1911 the family were living at 14 Newton Street, Mansfield, David 48 yrs is a mustard maker he is living with his wife Fanny 48 yrs and their children, David 25 yrs a joiner, Arthur 21 yrs a shop assistant, Alfred 18 yrs a coal miner and Albert 15 yrs a coal miner.

Military History

Private Albert Edward Cliff enlisted at Mansfield , he landed in France on 28th July 1915 Killed on the morning that his time expired after serving 3 years and 3 months in the trenches 5th May 1918 he is buried at Fouquieres Churchyard extension, Pas de Calais.
