Albert was born in 1886 the son of Elisha a coal miner and Rebecca Bacon ( née Peach). His father was born in 1854 at Selston, his mother in 1857 at Kimberley. Married on 5th July 1875 at Selston, they had four children all born at Selston - George b.1878, Arthur b.880, Albert b.1887 and Harriet b.1890. He married Edna Bacon( née Rawson) on 28th March 1910 at Linby, Nottinghamshire, and in 1911 they lived on Nottingham Road Selston. Their daughter Edna was born 17th April 1915 at Mansfield . With effect from 18/2/1918, Edna received a weekly pension of 20shillings for herself and child. Edna later lived at 39 Fox Grove Old Basford Nottingham.
Bacon enlisted at Mansfield 10th December 1915. The following day he was placed into the reserves. On 17th June 1916 he was mobilised and on 21st June 1916 he was posted to the 11th Staffordshire Regiment. He was posted to the 258th Battalion Training Reserve on 5th September 1916 and appointed lance corporal on 22nd January 1917. He was killed at Ipswich after being struck by lightning. He is buried in Nottingham Church Cemetery.
