William Henry Cocker was born in 1899 the son of William a steel polisher and Mary Cocker (née Baxter). His father was born in 1880 in Sheffield , his mother in 1878 at Nottingham. Married at Nottingham in 1878, they had four children - William Henry b.1898, John Edward b.1900, Mary b.1907 and Dorothy May b.1910. In 1911 they lived at 31 island Street London Road Nottingham. They later lived in Beeston at 24 Stoney Street and subsequently 10 Clifton Avenue.

William Henry Cocker died on 23rd December 1920 of pneumonia whist in hospital in Leeds and is buried in Beeston Cemetery, Nottingham Grave Reference: A E3 25
