Arthur was born in 1891 the son of Thomas, a railway porter and Agnes Kinch (née Wilson) of 27 Lower Eldon Street Sneinton Nottingham. His father was born at Kirkby Muxloe Leicestershire in 1853 and his mother in 1857 at Derby. Married in 1877 at Nottingham, they had eleven children. Arthur’s siblings surviving infancy were Annie Louisa b.1879, Thomas b.1881, Ethel b.1882, Agnes b1884, Charles b.1885, Helena b.1888, Horace b.1894 and Clarice b.1896. In 1911 the family lived at 48 Sedgley Avenue Sneinton Dale Nottingham. Arthur married Mary Ann Barks at Sneinton Parish Church on 16th October 1915. They lived at 47 Litchfield Road Sneinton. From 22/1/1919, Mary Ann received a weekly pension of 13/9d.
153rd Siege Bty Arthur Kinch enlisted on 11th December 1915 at Nottingham. He landed in France on 2nd November 1916 and on 12th September 1917 he was hospitalised following a gas attack. He was returned to England on 23rd September where he was treated at the Western General Hospital Manchester. He was released from hospital on 30th October 1917. Following his recovery he returned to France on 2nd January 1918 . He died from wounds received in action.
Vigmacourt British Cemetery Grave Reference: IV D 20 His brother Horace Kinch also served during the Great War . He enlisted in Nottingham on 9th November 1914 aged 20 years 11 months. He served with the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and landed in France on 4th September 1916. He was wounded by a piece of shrapnel in the right leg on 18th November 1916.
