Family History

John Richardson was born in 1881 at Calverton and was the son of the late Joseph a gardener and Annie Richardson née Coffin of Main Road, Calverton, Nottingham. His father Joseph was born in 1851 at Malpas, Cheshire, he died in 1888 aged 36 yrs his mother Annie Coffin was born in 1851 at Marbay, Cheshire, they were married in 1873 at St Oswalds Church Malpas they went on to have the following children, James b1875 Arrow Warwickshire, Arthur b1876 Whitbourne, Herefordshire, Annie b1878 Whitbourne, Hester b1879 Whitbourne, John b1881 Calverton and Ida b1885 Calverton. In 1911 he was homeless. According to a Police Return of Homeless Persons he was found living in a brick kiln at brick works Carlton he was an agricultural labourer. His pension record card states his next of kin was his mother Ann Wallace of 19 Bailey Street, Old Basford.

Military History

Private John Richardson enlisted at Chesterfield, he served with the 6th battalion Cheshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 21st October 1916 and is buried in Faubourg d"Amiens Cemetery
