Thomas Charles William Bradley was the son of Edward a general dealer and Eliza (née Bray) Bradley. His father was born at 1846 in Derby and his mother at 1853 in Nottingham. They were married in 1870 at Nottingham had eight children all born in Nottingham:- Elizabeth Kate b.1872, Charles Josiah b.1873, John b.1877, George b.1880, Jane Hannah b.1883, Eliza Ann b.1884, Thomas Charles William b.1886 and Henry b.1891. Thomas married Mary Elizabeth Bassford at Nottingham in 1910, in 1911 they lived at 21 Althorpe Street New Radford Nottingham and their son Thomas W was born in 1912. In the same 1911 census we find his parents living at their sons address 10 Montford Street, Radford , Edward Bradley is 65 yrs and a general dealer he is living with his wife Eliza 59 yrs a charwoman , head of the household is their son Henry 20 yrs a joiner he is living with his wife Sarah 20 yrs and their son Edward 1 month old. At the time of his death, Thomas's address is given as 35 Baldwin Street, Radford.
Thomas Charles William Bradley enlisted at Nottingham. Landing in France 29th November 1914, he was killed in action on 19th April 1915. The battalion’s war diary for this date noted ‘ that a minewerfer blew in a section of the parapet and a shell followed through the gap it made a minute later causing the death of a rifleman.’ He is buried in Cuinchy Communal Cemetery Grave Reference: II B 1
In memoriam Nottingham Evening Post 18th April 1916: ‘BRADLEY. – In loving memory of Rifleman Thomas Charles, the dearly beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth Bradley, killed in action, April 18th, 1915.
