Horace Henry Fortescue

Horace Henry Fortescue was born in 1890 in Nottingham and was the son of George a chemical worker and Hannah Fortescue née Butler of 35 Goodliffe Street Hyson Green Nottingham. His father George was born in 1865 in Nottingham and his mother Hannah Butler was born in 1870 at Sutton, Nottinghamshire, they were married in 1891 in Nottingham and went on to have 10 children, sadly three were to die in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Harold b1893 Nottingham, John b1894 Nottingham, George b1898 Nottingham, William b1900 Attenborough, Hannah b1904 Attenborough, Tom b1908 Leeds, and Amy b1910 Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 13 Lacey Street, Widness, Lancashire and are shown as George 46 yrs a chemical worker, he is living with his wife Hannah 41 yrs and their children, Harold 18 yrs a chemical worker, John 17 yrs a chemical worker, George 13 yrs a scholar, William 11 yrs a scholar, Hannah 7 yrs a scholar, Tom 3 yrs and Amy 1 yr. In the 1911 census he is listed as being single 20 yrs of age and with his battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps in barracks in India.
