Family History

He was the son of Elizabeth Edmonds (formerly Griffiths) and the brother of Agnes Griffiths. he was the step son of Frederick Edmonds and the half brother of Frances Elizabeth and Agnes Edmonds. In 1911 they lived at 7 Washdyke Lane and later 25 Connery (both Hucknall Torkard Nottinghamshire).

Military History

Private Charles Henry Griffiths enlisted on 31st August 1914 at Hucknall, he gave his age as 20 yrs and 94 days , he gave his occupation as coal miner and his next of kin as his mother Elizabeth Edmonds. He served in the 7th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and landed in France on 14th July 1915. He was killed in action on 2nd March 1916 he has no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium
