Family History

James William Halford was born at Newthorpe Nottinghamshire in 1888, his wife Elizabeth (née Clay) in 1889 at Nottingham. Married in 1907 at Nottingham, they had two children, both born in Nottingham:- Lillian May b.1908 and William James b.1910. In 1911 the family was living at 4 Haughton Place Holland Street Hyson Green Nottingham. At the time of James’s death the family were living at 3 Belvedere Place Saville Street Hyson Green.

Military History

Rifleman James William Halford, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 10th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He landed in France on 22nd July 1915 and was killed in action on 21st February 1916. He is buried in La Belle Alliance Cemetery Belgium Grave Reference B 1.
