Archibald Hawthorn Fanton

Archibald was born in 1884 the son of Joseph and Sarah Martha Fanton née Hawthorn. His father was born in Nottingham in 1840 and his mother at Calais France in 1847. His mother had previously been married (in 1872) to Thomas Lavender who died in Nottingham in 1877 aged 35. She married Joseph Fanton in 1882, again in Nottingham. However he died in 1887 aged 47. They had two children Thomas Benjamin Fanton born 1883 and Archibald Hawthorne born 1885, both born in Nottingham. Thomas Benjamin died aged 15 yrs in 1898 . In 1905 at Nottingham Archibald married Lily Stansall (b. 1884 Newark on Trent). Their first child Florence Alice was born at Nottingham in 1907. Archibald and family then moved to Pontefract, Yorkshire where they had four more children Irene Hawthorne (1910), Grace Emily (1911), Lily (1913-1913) and Ronald (1914). They were living at 15 Post Office Yard Pontefract in 1911. In 1917 Lily married Tom Day and they lived at 57 Nicholas Street CastlefordYorkshire. In 1911 Sara Martha was living at 1 Harvey Terrace Monk Street Nottingham. Aged 64 a widow and a lace mender, she was boarding with Jarvis Lovatt (38) a bricklayer’s labourer and his wife Florence (35) a hosiery machinist. She died at Nottingham in 1915 aged 68.
