Family History

Albert Lockwood was born in 1886 the son of William a farm labourer and the late Sarah Ann Agnes Lockwood née Witham pf Nook Lane Barrow Upon Soar. William was born in 1848 , Sarah Ann Witham was born in 1851 both born in Barrow upon Soar, she died in 1916 aged 65 yrs married in 1868 at Barrow upon Soar, they went on to have 8 children. In 1911 the family lived at Nook Lane Barrow upon Soar, Albert married his wife Ada Whetton (born 11th March 1874) in 1911 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 2 daughters Betty born 12th August 1912 and Agnes born 28th July 1915,. they lived at 67 Milton Street, East Kirkby . Commencing 9th December 1918 his widow Ada was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military History

Private Albert Lockwood enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at East Kirkby, he went missing in action on 25th March 1918 and later confirmed killed in action on that date. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial.
