Father: John Rodgers, born in 1857 at Hasland, Derbyshire and working as a railway engine driver. Mother: Charlotte Rodgers, born in 1859 at Ansley, Warwickshire. Brothers: John George, born in 1883 at Nottingham and working as a lace machine fitter, and Herbert, born in 1886 in Nottingham and also a lace machine fitter. Sisters: Elizabeth Fanny, born in 1884 in Nottingham and working as a shirt and collar machinist and Mabel, born in 1895 in Nottingham and workking as a lace jennies. The family lived at 9 Briar Street before moving to 60 Rupert Street (both Meadowws Nottingham).
Rodgers was called up for service and following training he was drafted to France with 1/6th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment.. The battalion was involved in the Battle of Arras, where Rodgers was killed in action on 24th May 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial Bay 7 and 8
Death notice published 28th February 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “RODGERS. – Reported wounded and missing May 24th, 1917, now reported killed in action, Private A. Rodgers, North Stafford., aged 25, beloved and youngest son of Mrs. J. Rodgers, 60, Rupert-street.
