Family History

Arthur Jackson was born in 1895 at Nottingham, he was the son of Fred a hydraulic presser hosiery and Ada Ann Jackson née Faulconbridge of 80 Park Lane Old Basford , Nottingham. His father Fred and his mother Ada Ann Faulconbridge were both born in 1872 at Nottingham, they were married in 1890 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they went on to have the following children, Ernest b1891, Arthur b1895, Harold b1897, Elsie b1900, Harry b1902, Minnie b1904, Leonard b1908 and Walter b1910, all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 80 Park Lane, Old Basford, Nottingham and are shown as Frederick 39 yrs a hydraulic presser hosiery trade, he is living with his wife Ada Ann 39 yrs and their children, Ernest 20 yrs a clerk at Babbington Coal Company, Arthur 16 yrs a hosiery packer at Vernon Road, Bleaching Company, Harold 13 yrs a hosiery sorter at Vernon Road Bleaching Company, Elsie 11 yrs a scholar, Harry 9 yrs a scholar, Minnie 7 yrs a scholar, Leonard 3 yrs and Walter 1 year of age. Arthur married his wife Clara Elsie Mayler (born 25th September 1896) in 1916 at Nottingham, they lived at 512 Vernon Road, Old Basford, Nottingham. Following his death his widow Clara Elsie was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 9th December 1918.

Military History

Private Arthur Jackson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 8th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He died of wounds on 29th May 1918 and is buried in the Pernes British Cemetery (grave ref. II.D.16).
