Family History

Walter Abel Horsley was born in 1894 the son of John a collier and Elizabeth Horsley née Cox and the brother of Florence Mary, Albert, Charlotte Elizabeth and Ivy May Horsley. In 1911 they lived on Hartley Road Kirkby in Ashfield. John was born in 1856, Elizabeth Cox was born in 1859 both were born in Heanor, married on 25th December 1875 at Heanor Parish Church, they went on to have 12 children, sadly three died in infancy or early childhood.

Military History

Lance Corporal Walter Horsley enlisted into the 3rd battalion Grenadier Guards he died of tuberculosis on 8th July 1919 and is buried at Kingsway Old Cemetery, Kirkby in Ashfield.
