Family History

He was the son of Joseph and Fanny Riley. His father died when Ernest was young and his mother had remarried by the 1901 Census to a Charles Orrell. Ernest married Sarah Ruth Leivers in the Basford Registration District in 1906. He was living in Selston when his daughter Francis Mary was born in 1907 and by the time of his second child, Joseph's birth, in 1910 was living in Greasley. In 1911 he was living with his family at 38 Lower Granby Street Ilkeston.
