Family History

He was the son of Thomas and Hannah Wapplington and the brother of Bertha, Hilda, Doris and Dennis Wapplington. In 1911 they lived at Jacksdale Nottinghamshire.

Military History

Arthur Waplington enlisted at Nottingham and joined the battalion on Gallipoli Thursday, 14 November 1915. He served in Egypt from January to June 1916, when the battalion moved to France and the Arras front. In August they moved to the Somme in preparation for the Battle of Thiepval 26/29th September. The battalion attacked from Constance trench and successfully took all of its objectives but at a high cost. Arthur was one of the men killed and has no known grave.
