Family History

Walter Harrison was born in 1884 the son of Charles a newsagent and Clara Harrison, née Bloye of 87, Low Moor Rd., East Kirkby, Nottingham Both his parents were born in Castle Acre, Norfolk in 1853, Charles died in 1918 married in 1874 at Nottingham they had 7 children all born in East Kirkby.

Military History

Private Walter Harrison enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at East Kirkby, he initially served with the service number 12455 in the Leicestershire Regiment. He was killed in action on 30th November 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial.

Extra Information

His brother Private George Harrison, served with the 3rd Battalion Machine Gun Corps, he was killed in action on 8th October 1918. He is buried at Grand Ravine British Cemetery, Havrincourt.
