Born during the fourth quarter 1894,he was the son of George William Cave and Mary Ann Cave. In 1911 he was living with his parents and siblings George William, Frederick and John Henry, Nellie and Annie and brother in law George Knight and nephew George at 6a Briar Street Meadows Nottingham. His father was listed as a carting contractor and coal merchant.
