Charles Leverton (junior) was born in 1900 at Nottingham, he was the son of Charles Leverton (senior) a pit bank labourer and Ada Loiusa Leverton née Cook 0f 23 Newstead Street Bulwell Nottingham.

His father Charles Leverton (senior) was born in 1862 at Bulwell, his mother Ada Louisa Cook was born in 1872 at Nottingham, they were married in 1893 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have 9 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family were living at 13 Main Street, Bulwell, Charles 49 yrs is a pit bank labourer, he is living with his wife Ada Louisa 39 yrs and their 8 children including Charles 10 yrs of age a scholar.

Military history

Gunner Charles Leverton enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 106th Bty 22nd Bde, Royal Field Artillery, he died on 18th July 1921 at Ferozepore, India, he is buried at Ferozepore Cemetery, India and is commemorated on the Kirkee Memorial, India.
