Family History

He was the son of John Hames. He was the husband of Alice Hames and the father of John, George, Genny and William Hames. In 1911 they lived at 10 Crown Street, Bulwell, Nottingham; their eldest son, John, was 12, George 6, Jenny 2 and William 7 months. According to information on the census form, John and Alice, who had been married for nine years, had had six children born alive, two of whom had died.

Military History

10th Bn Training Reserve. According to UKSDGW he was previously a lance corporal (29712) in the Yorkshire Hussars (Alexandra, Princess of Wales' Own) 15th Bn. He is buried in Bulwell (St Mary) Churchyard (grave ref. 1914.413).
