William Trafford (junior) was born in 1887 at Newark, he was the son of William Trafford (senior) an agricultural labourer and Annie Trafford, nee Somerton. William Trafford (senior) was born in 1845 at Revesby, Lincolnshire, he died in 1895 aged 50 yrs, Annie Somerton was born in 1848 at Knaresborough she died in 1898 aged 50 yrs. William married Priscilla Burbank in 1907 at Newark, they had the following children, Doris May b1908, Gladys Maud b 1909 and William b1911 all were born in Newark. In 1911 the family lived at 2 Wadsworth Road, Bramley, Rotherham, William is 25 yrs and a coal miner , pit sinker, he is living with his wife Priscilla 21 yrs and their 3 children.

Military History

Lance Corporal William Trafford enlisted at Newark whilst residing at Hyson Green, he served with the 1st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment he was killed in action on 14th September 1914 he is buried at Montreuil-Aux-Lions British Cemetery
