Arthur Cockram

He was born in 1887 (registered Oct/Nov/Dec), the son of William Cockram and Lavinia (Minnie) Cockram (nee Watkinson). His parents were married in 1872 (Oct/Nov/Dec) and according to the information given by William on the 1911 census he and his wife had had six children of whom only four were still alive at the time of the census in 1911. However, only three sons, Frederick, Samuel and Arthur, have been identified on earlier census. In 1891 William, a lace dyer, and Minnie were living at 6 Lower Eldon Street, Sneinton. There were three children in the home on the night of the census; Frederick (15), Samuel (12) and Arthur (3). Arthur's parents had moved to 10 Lower Eldon Street by the time of the 1901 census and were living there with two sons, Samuel (22), a machine fitter, and Arthur. Their oldest son, Frederick (25), his wife, Catherine (23), and daughter, Elsie (2), were living in the former family home at 6 Lower Eldon Street. Minnie Cockram died in 1910 and in 1911 Arthur and his widowed father were living at 69 Trent Road, Nottingham. Arthur's mother died on 26 April 1910 aged 58 and his father on 22 February 1924 aged 77.
