He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Ann Haw and the brother of John, Lizzie, Sarah Ann, Rosa Ethel and Albert Haw of 15 Alderney Street New Lenton Nottingham.
Rifleman William Haw, served with the 8th Battalion Rifle Brigade. He landed in France on 4th August 1915 and was wounded in action on 8th December 1915 and died of these wounds on 15th December 1915 in St John Ambulance Hospital, Etaples. He is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery. Pas de Calais France Grave Reference: 6 A 16a
Death notice published 21st December 1915 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “HAW. – Rifleman William Haw, Rifle Brigade, second dearly beloved son of Thomas and Sarah Ann Haw, of Alderney-street, Lenton, aged 22 years, wounded in action December 8th, died of wounds in St. John Ambulance Hospital, Etaples, France.
