Albert Henry Watson was born in 1897 at Nottingham the son of the late James and Isadora Watson née Green of 23 St Paul's Avenue Hyson Green Nottingham. James was born in 1863 at Burton upon Trent, he died in 1899 aged 36 yrs, Isadora Green was born in 1861 also at Burton upon Trent, they were married on 14th June 1888 at Burton upon Trent, they had have 5 children, 1 sadly died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family were living at 73 Kirkstead Street, Hyson Green, Isadora is 50 yrs a widow, she is living with her children, Percy 21 yrs a brewer, Elle 20 yrs a machinist, Florence Isadora 15 yrs a machinist and Albert Henry 13 yrs of age.

Military History

Private Albert Watson enlisted at Nottingham, he landed in France on 28th June 1915 and was killed in action on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. Commemorated: Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
