Family History

William Henry Little was born in 1887 the son of William Henry and Gertrude Little of London. In 1911 he is a boarder, living at Queen Street, Belper with his future wife and his in laws, Johnathan Lowe 60 yrs a confectioner his wife Annie Maria 54 yrs, and their daughter Florence May 29 yrs a lace net mender, William is 24 yrs and a grocers assistant. William Henry married Florence May Lowe (born 1st February 1883 Belper) on 28th September 1912 at St Peters Church, Belper, they lived at the Storres, Edwinstowe, and later Queen Street Belper Derbyshire. Commencing 25th February 1918 his widow Florence was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week.

Military History

Private William Henry Little enlisted at Edwinstow, he initially served with the service number 75635 with the Army Service Corps, he was serving with the Royal Fusiliers (Bankers) when he was killed in action on 3rd August 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
