Family History

Henry Carr Raitrick was born in 1889 at Nottingham, his father William Edward Raistrick, born in 1857 at Pudsey, Yorkshire and working as a draper and later as a house furnisher, his mother: Alice Ann Raistrick née Carr born in 1859 at Bradford they were married in 1887 at Bradford, his brother: Frank William, born in 1891 in Nottingham and working as a cabinet maker. his sister Edith Alice, born in 1894 in Nottingham. The family lived at 12 Maples Street, Nottingham. Henry Carr Raistrick married Kate Moore (born 7th March 1890 ) in 1915 at Nottingham, lived at 34 Loughborough Avenue, Sneinton Dale, Nottingham. Commencing 22nd April 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 9 pence a week.

Military History

C.S.M. Raistrick showed some ability to rise through the ranks to become company sergeant major. 'B' Company went to France in 1917 and were later involved in the fighting during the Third Battle of Ypres. He was seriously wounded and taken to one of the four casualty clearing stations situated narthex village of Prove. He died on 08/10/1917 and was buried at Mendinghem Military Cemetery.
