Family History

Harold was the son of Harold Alfred a carpenter and joiner and Helen Jane Wolfe (née Stringer) of Mapperley, Nottingham. His siblings were Francis Harold born 1882 , Elsie Louisa born 1884, Margaret born 1892 and Helen born 1896. In 1911 they lived at 510 Woodborough Road, Mapperley. Harold married Fanny Bradley (born 14th February 1894) in the last quarter of 1913 and they lived on Green Lane, Lambley they had the following children, Kathleen born 24th March 1914 and Margaret born 21st October 1916 . Following his death his widow Fanny was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week which commenced on 2nd June 1919

Military History

Signaller Harold Wolfe enlisted in Nottingham and served with 'B' battery, 170th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. He died of the effects of gas poisoning and is buried in Kortrijk (St. Jan ) Communal Cemetery, Belgium, Grave Reference: A 7

Nottingham Post notice (abridged), 20 November 1918: 'Wolfe. On November 14th in France from gas poisoning, Signaller Harold Wolfe, youngest son of Harold and Helen Wolfe, 510 Woodborough Road, Nottingham, age 24, husband of Fanny Wolfe of Lambley.'
