Family History

John George Wright was born in 1897 the son of William Wright a bricklayer’s labourer and Alice Emma Wright ( née Cooke) of Parkyn's Street Ruddington Nottinghamshire. William was born in 1871 at Ruddington, Alice Emma Cooke 1876 also at Ruddington. Married in 1895, they had six children - Lily b1896, John George b1897, Eliza A b1900, Mable b1903, William b1905 and Alice b1907. Alice Emma died in 1907 aged 32. In 1911, the family, including Eliza Cooke, housekeeper, lived on Charles Street, Ruddington. Lily was a hosiery worker.

Military History

John George Wright enlisted at Nottingham and landed in France on 19th January 1915. He was posted as a reinforcement to 2nd Battalion of his regiment and was killed in action on 27th June 1916. He is buried in Agny Military Cemetery Grave Reference: B 33
