Peter Irons Stewart was the son of John a ploughman and Ann Stewart née Malloch of Blairgowrie, Scotland. John was born in 1849 at Little Dunkeld, Perthshire and his Ann Malloch was born in 1849 at Auchtergavin, Perthshire. They were married on 31st December 1874 at Blairgowrie and went on to have the following children all of whom were born in Caputh, Perthshire, John b.1876,Thomas b.1878, Janet Allun b.1880, James b.1882, Robert b.1884, George Brown b.1886, Peter Irons b.1888, William b.1890, Charles Low b.1891 and Margaret Helen b.1893. Peter Irons Stewart was married to Lucy Stewart and they lived at 2 Sylvester Street, Hucknall Torkard, Nottinghamshire. They had the following children, Peter born 22nd August 1910, Beatrice born 6th October 1912 and John Alexander born 3rd November 1915. With effect from 5/5/1919, Lucy was awarded a weekly pension of 30 shillings and 10 pence a week.

Military History

Peter Irons Stewart enlisted at Aberdeen and served with 'A' battery, 168th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. He died of wounds on 18th October 1918 and is buried in Roisel Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
