Son of Harry and Ann Smith, of 85, Whyburn St., Hucknall, Nottingham; husband of Jane Smith, of Hope Terrace, Victoria St., Stocksbridge, Sheffield, they had a son Harry born 11th March 1912. His pension card stated his widow was Jane Smith born 14th September 1888 she was living at Hope Terrace, Victoria Street,Stockbridge, Sheffield, their son was Henry Basil Smith born 11th March 1912, it further states his wife was seperated from her husband. She was awarded a pension of 15 shillings and 8 pence which commenced on 30th September 1918.

Military History

Lance Corporal Harry B. Smith, enlisted at Normanton, he served with the 8th Battalion, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He landed in France on 26th August 1915. He died in Italy on 22nd March 1918 of pleurisy . He is buried in Staglieno Cemetery, Genoa.
