Ernest Wilkinson Saxton was born in 1878 at Hucknall and was the son of James a shetland shawl manufacturer and Eliza Foulds Saxton née Wilkinson of 86 Watnall Road, Hucknall. His father James was born in 1859 at Hucknall, his mother Eliza Foulds Wilkinson was born in 1860 also in Hucknall, they were married on 2nd October 1877 and went on to have the following children, Ernest Wilkinson b1878, John Wilkinson b1880, George Wilkinson b1884, Joseph Wilkinson b1886, Beatrice Wilkinson b1889 and Frank Wilkinson b1895 all were born at Hucknall. Ernest Wilkinson Saxton married his wife Florence Mary Seagrave in 1909 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they lived at 32 Albert Street Hucknall Torkard Nottinghamshire.In the 1911 census the family are living at 32 Albert Street, Hucknall and are shown as Ernest W 33 yrs a surveyor he is living with his wife Florence 29 yrs In the same 1911 census his parents and siblings are living at 86 Watnall Road, Hucknall and are shown as James Saxton 52 yrs a shetland shawl manufacturer he is living with his wife Eliza 51 yrs and their children, George Wilkinson 27 yrs a frame work knitter, Joseph Wilkinson 25 yrs a butcher, Frank Wilkinson 16 yrs a frame work knitter. His probate was proven on 21st July 1920 at Nottingham, it shows him as Ernest Wilkinson Saxton, 32 Albert Street, Hucknall a Lieutenant in H.M.Army died on 20th December 1919 and his effects of £2033 4 shillings and 2 pence were left to Florence Mary Saxton a widow and George Wilkinson Saxton an agent.

Lieutenant Ernest Wilkinson Saxton, 71st Company Labour Corps, the former surveyor for Hucknall Urban District Council, died of meningitis on 20th December 1919. He was 41 and is buried in Hucknall Cemetery.
