Arthur Kerry

Arthur was the son of Abraham and Sarah Kerry (née Richardson). Abraham was born in Staveley, Derbyshire, in about 1846 and his wife Sarah Richardson was born in about 1850. They were married at Staveley St John the Baptist in 1866 (O/N/D Chesterfield) and according to information provided by Abraham on the 1911 Census, he and Sarah had had 19 children of whom only seven survived. Eleven children have been traced from census and birth registration records, six of whom were baptised at Staveley St John: William b. Blackwell Derbys. 1877 (J/F/M Mansfield) d. 1877; Phoebe b. Blackwell 1878 d. 1894 buried Blackwell 29 June 1894; Sarah Jane b. Blackwell 1880 d. 1894 buried Blackwell 22 July 1894; John Thomas b. Blackwell 1887 and Arthur b. Blackwell 1895 (A/M/J). Their son George (b. 1868) does not appear on any census returns in the family home; if he survived infancy he may have died by 1906. One other child, Bertha, who was born in 1889 (J/F/M Mansfield), was described on the 1891 Census as Abraham and Sarah's grandchild although on the subsequent census she was listed as their daughter and may have been included as one of their surviving children in 1911. of 162, Scott Street, Langwith, Mansfield, Notts.
