306679 Private Albert Hooper enlisted in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment) circa January 1916. After training he was posted to the 2/8th TF Battalion and spent time with them in Ireland during 1916 before they returned to England in January 1917 and on 26 February 1917 landed in France. It is likely that Albert remained with the battalion until 6 February 1918 when it was disbanded. He was then posted to 1st battalion. The 1st battalion was decimated in the fighting at Chemin des Dames in May 1918 and Albert was probably wounded and captured during this time. He was moved back through the German medical chain but died of his wounds on 12 July 1918 and buried in the Niederzwehren Cemetery, Kassel Germany;
