He was the son of Joseph, a greengrocer, and Emma Skellington and the brother of Florence Anne, Kate, Joseph, Marion Jane and William Henry Gilbert Skellington. In 1911 they lived at 35 Meadow Lane Nottingham.
He served with 72nd Brigade. Joseph and William also served (see obituary).
