He was the husband of Anne Ada Wood (formerly Prophet) and the father of Muriel Wood. At the time of Harry's death they were living at 8 Howard Street, Glasshouse Street, Nottingham. His wife had two daughters, Lily and Ivy, by her first marriage. His daughter, Muriel, married Ronald William Cammell in 1939 and had a daughter, Angela, and a son, Christopher.
