Nahum Dexter

Nahum Dexter was born in 1893 at Hucknall and was the son of George a coal miner hewer and Kathleen Dexter née Bacon of 41 Bestwood Road, Butlers Hill, Hucknall. His father George was born in 1862 at Melbourne, Derbyshire and his mother Kathleen Mary Bacon was born in 1865 they were married on 4th June 1885 at St Peters Church, Derby and went on to have 9 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood, their children were Mabel b1886, Jane Holden b1887, both born in Melbourne, Emily b1890, Nathum b1893, George b1896, Thomas b1898, Jack b1903 and Charlotte Ball Dexter b1906, all were born in Hucknall In the 1911 census the family lived at 41 Bestwood Road Butler's Hill Hucknall Torkard Nottinghamshire and were shown as George 49 yrs a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Kathleen 46 yrs and their children, Emily 21 yrs a cigar maker, Nahum 18 yrs a coal miner rope rider, George 15 yrs a coal miner pony driver, Thomas 13 yrs an assistant at a skating ring, Jack 8 yrs a scholar, Charlotte Ball 5 yrs. George and Kathleen later moved to 14 The Limes, Brickyard, Butler's Hill.
