Family History

Richard was born in 1893 and was the son of Thomas and Mary Ann Cooper and the brother of Rachael, Mary Ann, Susannah, Florrie, Annie, John and Agnes Cooper. In 1911 he was lodging in Hucknall with George Cole and family.

Military History

Richard probably joined the battalion as a replacement in September 1915. He died at sea of his wounds and was then buried at sea. He is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli
