He was the son of Elizabeth Goy (formerly Corbett) of 22 Independent Hill, Nottingham. Chariles had previously lived at 14 Virginia Street, Nottingham.

Military History

He was reported missing after the first day of the Battle of the Somme but his death was not confirmed until the following year. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
