Charles Hunt Ford was born in 1889 in Nottingham and was the youngest son of Edwin a fishmonger and Emma Ford née Spittlehouse, of 24 Clarendon Street, Nottingham. His father Edwin was born in 1848 in Nottingham and his mother Emma Spittlehouse was born in 1854 also in Nottingham. They were married in 1874 in Nottingham and went on to have 6 children all of whom were born in Nottingham, they were :- Alfred James b1876, Moses b1878, Mabel b1880, Elizabeth b1881 and Charles Hunt b1889. He was the husband of Lilian Ford of 49 Shelton Street Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 24 Clarendon Street, Nottingham and are shown as Edwin 63yrs a fishmonger, he is living with his wife Emma 57 yrs and their children Elizabeth 30 yrs working in the house, and Charles Hunt 22 yrs a painter. He was the 27 year-old husband of Lilian Ford, 49 Shelton Street, Nottingham.
Private Charles Hunt Ford, served with the 24th Battalion Royal Fusiliers, died of wounds on 16th November 1916. He is buried in Couin British Cemetery.
Obituaries published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 16th November 1917:- “FORD. – In loving memory of Charlie, mortally wounded in France, November 16th, 1916. Fondly remembered. – Mabel, Fred, nieces. “FORD. – In loving memory of Charles Hunt Ford, died of wounds November 16th, 1916. Dearly loved, sadly missed. – Loving wife. “FORD. – To the sweet and loving memory of Charles Hunt Ford, who died of wounds in France, November 16th, 1916, the dearly loved son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Ford, and devoted brother of Lizzie and Fred Ford, 108, St. Stephen's-road. His cherished memories are our only comfort. “FORD. – In loving memory of Charles Hunt Ford, the loving brother of Mo and Edie Ford, died of wounds November 16th, 1916.
