Albert Edward Butlin was born on 22nd July 1892 at Marylebone, London, he was baptised on 21st November 1895 at St James Church, West Hampstead, Camden. He was the was the son of the late Edwin a railway man and Carrie Butlin of 25 Fairfax Place, Hampstead.

Military History

Private Albert Edward Butlin enlisted on 27th March 1915 at Sheffield, he gave his age as 28 yrs and 8 months, his address was the Conservative club King Street Sheffield where he was a waiter. His next of kin was his mother Carrie of 25 Fairfax Placed, Hampstead. He was posted to the York and Lancaster Regiment and joined at their barracks at Pontefract on 29th March 1915. He landed in France on 12th October 1915 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
