He was the son of Charles and Harriet Amelia Blasdale. Charles and Harriet (nee Wood) were married in 1889 (J/F/M) in Nottingham and were to have two sons, Charles and John Herbert. In 1891 Charles (24) a framework knitter, and Harriet (24) a lace jenner, were living with their first child, Charles, at 2 Haywood Yard, Sneinton. By 1901 they were living at 3 Hawskworth Terrace with their two sons, Charles (11) and John (8). The family had moved again by the time of the next census in 1911 and were living at 132 Gordon Road Nottingham. Charles married Dorothy Gertrude Radford in 1913 (registered J/F/M) and they had their only child, Winifred E. later that year (O/N/D). At the time of Charles' death they were living at 4 Wellington Square but the address on the CWGC record gives his widow's address as 1a Wellington Square, Derby Road, Nottingham. His daughter Winifred married Sam Booth in 1940.
He enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery, No. 85096, before being transferred to the Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action and buried at Cambrin Churchyard Extension(C. 3.)
Nottingham Post notice (abridged), 23 November 1915: ‘Blasdale. Killed in Action November 8th, Private C Blasdale, 4 Wellington Square. Wife and baby.’ His wife, Dorothy, was his sole legatee.
