Family History

James Aaron Wheat was born in 1896 in Nottingham and was the son of Charles and Lucy Wheat and the brother of Charles Henry and William Frederick Wheat (killed in action 7/12/1916) and the half brother of Albert, Lucy, Hilda and Margaret Sulley Wheat. In 1911 they lived at 53 Oldham Street Carlton Road Nottingham.

Military History

Private James Wheat, enlisted in Chesterfield and served with the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment, he was killed in action on 14th May 1917. He is buried in Maroc British Cemetery, Grenay.

Extra Information

His brother Pte. William Frederick Wheat, 26th Battalion Middlesex Regiment, was killed in action on 7th December 1916. Aged 19, he is buried in Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria, Greece.
