Henry Tyers

Henry was the son of William and Fanny (also Frances) Tyres (née Daley also Daly). Both his parents were born in Nottingham, William in about 1870 and Fanny in about 1872. They were married in 1892 (O/N/D Nottingham) and had nine children of whom only five were still living at the time of the 1911 Census: Henry b. 1894 (J/A/S Nottingham) bap. Nottingham St Patrick (Anglican) 9 December 1894, Alice b. 12 December 1897 (J/F/M Nottingham) bap. St Patrick 30 October 1898, May b. abt 1900 bap. St Patrick 3 December 1907, James b. 1 April 1902 (A/M/J Nottingham) bap. St Patrick 3 December 1907 and Joseph b. 1906 (A/M/J Nottingham). Two of their four children who died in infancy were: William b. 22 December 1903 (1904 J/F/M Nottingham) bap. St Patrick 1 July 1905 d. 1905 (J/A/S Nottingham) and John b. 5 May 1908 (A/M/J Nottingham) bap. St Patrick 31 May 1909 d. 1909 (A/M/J Nottingham). When William was baptised in July 1905 the family was living at 4 Eyre Yard, Nottingham, but were at 37 Regent Hill, Nottingham, by December 1907 when May and James were baptised and still at the same address when John was baptised in May 1909. However, by 1911 William (41), a wood sawyer, and Fanny (39) were living at 42 West Street, Sneinton, with their five surviving children Henry (16) a general printer, Alice (13), May (11), James (9) and Joseph (5). The youngest surviving child, Joseph, died in 1915 (J/F/M Nottingham), aged about 8. According to one of the military records, Henry was living in Derby when he enlisted. The later CWGC record gives William and Fanny's address as 8 Pembroke Place, Walker Street, Carlton Road, Sneinton, Nottingham. Fanny probably died in 1927 (A/M/J Nottingham) and William in 1951 (J/A/S Nottingham).
