He was the son of George and Elizabeth Thompson. He was the husband of Lottie Elizabeth (née Sheffield) Thompson and the father of Eric and George Thompson. In 1911 they lived with Lottie's family at 8 Lord Street Windmill Lane Sneinton Nottingham. Lottie later lived at 25 Cooper Street Alfred Street St Ann's Nottingham.
