He was the son of Francis and Harriet Tatton. He was the husband of Alice Tatton and the father of Dorothy Tatton. In 1911 they lived at 35 St Cuthbert's Road Carlton Road Nottingham.

Obituary published in the 'Nottingham Evening Post, dated 2nd February 1918 :- “TATTON. - Killed in action, January 5th, Signaller Frank Tatton, R.F.A., aged 41, beloved brother of Cissie and Fred (Birmingham). Loved by all who knew him.” Obituaries published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 4th January 1919 :- “TATTON. - In ever-loving memory of our dearest brother, Sig. Frank Tatton, killed in France January 5th, 1918. Sleep on, dear brother, in far off grave, a grave we may not see, but while our lives and memories last, we will ever think of thee. Mother and son reunited. - From his loving dad, Eliza, Ted, Lily, Jim and children. “TATTON. - In loving memory of my dear brother, killed in France January 5th.
