Family History

He was the son of James and Elizabeth Perotti and the brother of James and Charles H Perotti. In 1901 they lived at 2 New Market Road and in 1911 at 3 Finch Street (both Nottingham). Elizabeth later moved to Green’s End Meltham Huddersfield.

Military History

Ben Perotti served on Gallipoli and in Egypt. The battalion moved to France in July 1916 and spent time on the Arras front before preparing for the Somme. On 26th September 1916 the battalion took part in the Battle of Thiepval and took all of its objectives but at high cost. Ben was one of the men killed and has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
