Francis Mann was born on 6th October 1895 he was baptised on 27th November 1896 at St Marys Church, Nottingham, in 1896 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Owen William Mann a porter at a boot shop and Catherine Lucy Mann née Rogers and the brother of William, Gertrude and Ethel Mann of 106 Manvers Street, Nottingham,

His father Owen William Mann was born in 1841 at Arnold he died in 1895 aged 55 yrs, his mother Catherine Lucy Rogers was born in 1855 at Radford they were married on 12th January 1873 at St Marys Church, Nottingham. they had 5 children,

In 1911 they lived at 5 Hampden Place Nottingham Lucy Mann 48 yrs is a widow she is living with her children, William 20 yrs a general labourer, Gertrude 23 yrs a lace drawer, Ethel 21 yrs a french polisher and Francis 15 yrs an electrician.

Military history

Private Frank Mann enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment he was killed in action, 1st August 1916, aged 20, during a raid on the German trenches near Givenchy, France.He is buried: Bethune Town Cemetery, France. Plot 5. Row G. Grave 79.
